Grade five is working hard. The past weeks we concentrated on getting a few writing drafts on paper. Now we are choosing a draft and revising by structuring the writing. Learning to write is a skill, much like learning to ride a bike, and for the rest of the year students are expected to have a couple writing pieces in development at all times. In Math, we have continued with the decimal packets as homework as well as IXL and the Divisibility Rules 2-5-8 project. In class we have worked with understanding and memorizing the divisibility rules and working with exponents, fractions, and problem solving. During POI, students have been taking Cornell notes about neuroscience – the study of the central and peripheral nervous system. I’m impressed how students are so eager to learn more about what controls our human behaviors. It’s an exciting time in our POI unit as students are taking what they’ve learned and are now building models of our systems.
Thanks for all your support at home. Again, I’m impressed with our class’s thirst for learning and understanding. September Dates
